Northside Youth Sports Academy is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a positive experience with youth sports for the families of our community. We are committed to creating a culture in which our youth build character & learn life lessons, while sharing in the emotions of success and failure that will help them beyond the playing field. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to have fun while developing physically, emotionally and socially. NYSA aspires to make sure the diverse needs, interests and abilities of all children are met while upholding a common set of values. We are devoted to individual growth, teamwork, sportsmanship, civil and ethical conduct for the total community of children, coaches and parents. Our belief is that hard work, dedication to goals and discipline will help our children increase their self-esteem and realize their full potential. NYSA exists to provide an opportunity for young people of all backgrounds to participate in and enjoy youth sports in an encouraging environment. Finally, it is our mission to ensure that each child has a rewarding experience by learning the importance of playing with honor, integrity and passion.
Integrity NYSA has a mission to develop the sportsmanship and character of every child within our organization. Cheerleaders (and anyone who is affiliated with NYSA) are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times while wearing the NYSA uniform or not. Cheerleaders should be leaders within their school and families and set a good example at all times. They are expected to have and maintain character above reproach and to exhibit personal appearance and habits that will reflect a positive image. We will uphold a standard of positivity and encouragement to our teammates, players, coaches, parents, fans, opposing teams and officials at all times. We will be ambassadors of good sportsmanship by applauding opposing teams during football games or cheer competitions, by kneeling quietly on one knee if a player on the field is injured and being attended to as well as applaud them once they are taken off the field. We will not use cell phones and electronics during practice, cheering on the field, or during games. We will not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES post negative material or comments about fellow teammates, coaches, parents, officials or opposing teams on social media. We will not use any foul or inappropriate language. Bullying will not be tolerated in any form from any person affiliated with NYSA Cowboys. As Cheerleaders, we are role models and not only lead cheers. We are able to set the standard of expectations for our fans. We lead by example to show respect and exhibit excellent character, conduct and citizenship. Attendance Cheerleading is a team sport. Each and every cheerleader is important to their team and it is expected that participants attend all practices and games. We all recognize and certainly understand unexpected situations arise, such as illness and injuries, and that a cheerleader may have to miss an occasional practice or game, but it’s unacceptable for a cheerleader to not attend practice without good reason. Excessive absences may place a child at a disadvantage in learning their routines or stunts and may result in not being able to participate. The team relies on each team member. Practice Expectations Practice is where competition and game day performances are crafted and perfected. NOTHING will be executed outside of practice unless the skills or routines are mastered. This is for two reasons. We want to be a polished unit outside of our practices and show only our best to set a high standard. Also, and more importantly, we want to be sure the teams can execute safely to reduce any risk of injury. To make this goal happen, each cheerleader must be on time to practice and bring a water bottle for water breaks. Their hair must be up, no jewelry, and appropriate attire must be worn. The team must pay attention an only talk at appropriate times, follow stretches and do them correctly, practice skills, concentrate and put in FULL effort, have a positive and encouraging attitude, address coaches, captains, and squad members with respect, and most importantly, BE their very BEST every day. Game Day Our football players are expected to be at the fields an hour before kick-off. Cheerleaders are expected to do the same. This gives them the time to hang posters/banners, stretch, run through routines and have a sense of calm and preparedness prior to game time. Also, it is very important to hydrate the day before the game. Texas summers and falls are HOT! We want to be sure all participants are acclimated to endure the heat. We are cheerleaders…this means we cheer… Games and competition are not social hour. Unless the weather is inclement, the cheerleaders are expected to be in formation and be engaged the length of the football game unless coaches advise a break. Cheerleaders must arrive to games and competition in full uniform. Full uniform includes shell, skirt, bloomers, socks, shoes, bow, and bodysuit if predetermined by coach to accommodate for cooler weather. No other socks, bow, or shoes will be accepted as the package NYSA provides with participant registration is what is required by our organization. Uniforms must be clean and free from stains during all performances and appearances. Hair must be up in a ponytail or half up with a coordinating bow. No jewelry is allowed at all for safety reasons. |
